The 13 Colonies

New Jersey

New Jersey was founded in 1664 because it was taken over by the king's proprietors in order to avoid having the Dutch take it over.  It had a small mayor/governor that was very similar to that of Connecticut's.  One thing that may have brought more settlers in would probably be the fact that New Jersey had religuos freedom.  It wasn't that people who preferred religious freedom had to move there, but whether or not the people and their families liked the choices offered for a living in the different colonies.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania was a colony founded in 1681 by William Penn and was founded because of religion.  William Penn was a Quaker who received persecution in is home in England and fled to the New World to seek a safe haven for him and his peaceful followers.  Once they arrived here, more Quakers resided in the area meant for them and had a government of a Constitutional Monarchy.  Many people soon were inspired by their beliefs and continued down a different path.

New York

New York was one of the colonies to be founded by the Duke of York and named after it in 1685.  The people who moved here and founded it were people searching for religious freedom elsewhere.   Many people moved here in order to find a better area without persecution or at the very least, a little bit of freedom.  The people here were searching for a good home to live in, the people who moved here did so.  They were no longer under stricter jurisdictions, and all was well.  They came up with a self-government system, and made the Colonial Laws of New York describing everything.

Delaware

Delaware was a colony founded by Peter Minuit in 1638 due the fact that it was a proprietary colony. The Duke of York ordered his proprietors to take care of land and in turn many people came to this new land in search of better land for agriculture, because Delaware was after all in the Middle Colonies, so farming would probably be the first choice people would choose for it they were to move here.  No one needed to have a certain characteristic or anything else to move here, but because of one's preferred living conditions, decisions vary.
