The 13 Colonies

The Target Residents

Connecticut

Connecticut was the place for people who thought that Massachusetts was too strict for them.  On that subject, a lot of people were allowed in Connecticut, but mostly people who didn't like Massachusetts were persuaded the most to move there.

Rhode Island

Rhode Island was also a colony in which religious freedom was encouraged.  Many people arrived at Rhode Island due to the economy, too, though.  Mainly, this colony attracted people mostly from areas where religious freedom was not allowed.

Massachusetts

When the Europeans were first coming to Massachusetts, they wrote the Mayflower Compact.  The Mayflower Compact influenced other settlers from other areas that this civil body politic was only for the good of the colony, making it seem as if though the people in Massachusetts were much better than the others, which in their own ways they were.  Massachusetts was aiming to get all of the newcomers who were followers of the king and Puritans.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire was looking to get residents that respected a constitutional government in which the king and his subjects play a part, no matter how big or how small.  They wanted to let others know that their government was unique and effective.

New Jersey

The people who were to come to his colony were mostly people who wanted to receive religious freedom.  The New Jersey Concession and Agreement document stated that people in New Jersey would receive the opportunity to receive religious freedom in that colony.  Many people moved here in order to have that freedom.

Pennsylvania

Residents pleasantly most welcomed into Pennsylvania were the Quakers, because its founder, William Penn, was a Quaker seeking a safe haven from religious persecution.  These people were allowed to stay in place without being disturbed, because religious persecutors were not at all permitted.

New York

New York, like others, was trying to persuade people who had suffered from religious persecution to move there.  Many people were unhappy with their religion, so people decided to move, and all of these colones vied for the same type of people: people who wanted their own freedom no only in religion, but in government, economics, money, and more, too.

Delaware

The people who were persuaded to move to Delaware were those that were farmers.  These farmers were probably mostly from the Middle Colonies because they had gotten used to the small farms suitable for growing grains, so Delaware was founded when they needed a better place for agriculture.

The Carolinas

The Carolinas mostly wanted to attract settlers who had a large interest with economy, like farming.  Many people felt a bit overcrowded with many people sharing a small plantation, so advertisements to 'spread the money' arrived.

Virginia

Many people moved to Virginia because of Jamestown.  Virginia's main goal was to attract newcomers from the Old World into the New World.  These settlers new that Jamestown was the 1st successful settlement, and the Virginians intended to keep knowledge that Virginia is already pretty modern out in the open.

Maryland

The target residents of Maryland were mainly the Catholics, as it was a safe haven for the members of the Roman Catholic Church.  Jews were not allowed whatsoever, and the Catholics had a secure place to themselves.

Georgia

Most of the target residents here would've been the debtors, as this colony was the Debtor's Colony.  People who were in debt were given the chance to start over, but others received neither an advantage, nor disadvantage.
